Several protestants on the community blaaahg expounding on the superior virtues of "good works" above all else.
Here's a brief lesson in history. The primary cause of the Protestant "Reformation" was the unfounded belief that "Works" were NOT integral to salvation (ie... being a 'good person'). Sola Scriptura was the propaganda phrase I believe (scripture alone) (and it had a partner which equated to "faith alone") which Martin Luther used to rally the young protestants. To put it plainly...what people are expounding here as being the "most important thing" is completely 100% at odds with their own protestant faith.
Martin Luther went so far as to remove 8 books from the bible since they mentioned "works" and to selectively edit 4 others for content.
I'm noticing lately how very much peoples religion really determines the sort of person they are.
I recently read a book of surveys of protestant clergy and parishioners in the 70's. At that time the Unitarian clergy often answered questions such as "Did Jesus die for the sins of mankind?" as "really not important"
