Think Coons are bad?

My racoon problem has likely been caused by the new building of homes on long island on the habitat areas of wild animals . Woods are becoming rare here now so the coons are moving into houses . In western states the same is happening with this sucker apparantly , the mountain lion or puma . I read an article about a guy with his little daughter who shot a puma that was sitting on a wall near an elementary school in some western state . He tought he was doing the right thing to protect the kids who had been lucky enough to not be aborted from a horrible death by a vicious predator . Hmmmm , think again, he might be prosecuted for killing a protected species of animal . Anyway , I'll stick with the racoons . This baby is a bit bigger , stronger and even I might be scared shit to have it in my attic . Allan

Dino

This is dino , the owner of Mama Mia's Pizza . This store is next to the bakery . I haven't seen Dino now since the winter when his wife banned me from the store . It was all written up in my old blog but suffice it to say it was very weird . I printed this out yesterday and showe d it to the girl who co owns the bakery (not a big Dino fan) and she said his head is bigger then the water mellon , not quite but as I said she doesnt have much nice to say about him . allan

Sam

Sam works at the bakery , he's 80 . Apparantly he doesn't need the job , more of a friend of the family kind of thing . His wife died a few years ago . He goes to her grave every morning and then he helps out at the bakery for part of the day . Nice guy . allan

A cake display at my bakery

This place makes some excellant baked goods , its an italian bakery right next to dinos pizza joint . those cheese cakes in the bottom right hand corner are terrific . Andrew , an owner told me they are made from 100 percent cream cheese . Many bakeries use bakers cheese which is a cheaper product (according to andrew). They cost eleven bucks each but i rarely buy them because i tend to eat the whole damn thing in 2 days or so and I need to remain svelte to impress the local broads . Truth be known I've put on weight since I stopped drinking , I eat way more then I did before . I'm far from fat but I'd bet i put 25 pounds on since last january , Maybe I'll lose it in the hot weather this summer. Anyhow , this is prestanos fine italian bakery , if you are ever in my town of ronkonkoma stop in , grab a slice at dinos pizza and buy some of the finest pork chops , italian sausage and italian cheeses at the pork store , i forget its name , some italian jive but its excellant and if you need some dog food stop at the muslim market , country valley farms , these stores are all in the same very very busy strip mall in my town , Allan

Greenhouses in summer

These are the 2 greenhouses iin the summertime taken from the street that runs behind my property . This picture is taken from the oppisite side and the smaller greenhouse is the one you can't see in the winter picture I took earlier today . The grassy area in the foreground is my neighbors property . The smaller greenhouse goes right along my property line . Anyhow , what a difference a few months make . Allan

Billy Joel

This is the home of a Long Island boy who made good in the world writing music and banging on a piano . The piano man himself Billy Joel . This joint is located in Centre Island (actually a penninsula) located on the north shore of Nassau County. Hard as this is to believe this gorgeous location is only 20 miles tops from Manhattan . Of course Billy takes a helicopter to the city when he needs to so its a hop ,skip and a jump for him . Centre Island is one of the more exclusive areas of Long Island tho its surely not the only one by a long shot. In future posts I'm sure I'll be showing even more exclusive areas of the island . This house is located on Long Island sound , the body of water to the north of the Island . If you were to head north from here in Billy's new boat you would eventually come to the town where Dedltr lives in Connecticut which is the other side of Long Island Sound . I'm sure Billy has made the trip many times and has likely given private concerts for Ded and his family . More to come as time proceeds . allan

What makes this an island

Here's a picture of the atlantic ocean . Could be anyday , any time of the year . It's very calm on this day , I don't remember when this picture was taken but it doesn't matter . It's timeless. When we are all dead this water will still be lapping at this shore . The only thing changed will be the people who see it . Without this water Long Island would be nothing , not even an island , it would be no more then a Detroit or an Indianapolis . It wouldn't even be that for that matter . This is the best place to start this journal . If you should get to long island one day by all means , stay away from the strip malls , the big malls (lubee) and come see this , bring a dog , yes you can bring a dog here off season to run like a madden creature full of the energy God has given it with wild abandon . Opps , I;m getting carried away with my words , this is how much I love this island I live on , it sends me into words of rapture . Looking at this ocean to me is like hearing Martin Luther King give his I've been to the mountain top speach not long before he was gunned down . God I loved Martin , oh my , its been such an emotional few weeks . enough .

This is the start of my journal and my head is awash at the scope of what I am going to try to present to you all here . To see this beautiful island with all its millions of parts and aspects as I see it . I hope I'm up to this task . It may be the last creative thing I do in my retched life much like Capote and In Cold Blood , I hope it doesn't drive me back to the bottle but to end with my favorite words, time will tell. My name is no name . I'm allan's last cat out of 5 he had once , the others croaked, ha ha ha . I've always been the nastiest cat he owned and people who came here hated me (like I give a shit) . I've lived in this house for something like 20 years and in my old age I demand lots of expensive canned food that this asshole I live with goes out and buys . I'm always in the way now on the kitchen table where Allan types in his computer but being old now he puts up with my annoying ways . I might live forever just to piss him off . Yours, No Name

testing again

no title , i'm testing things out

i'm trying to figure how this all works, apparantly i recovered the user name and password or i will find out after i try to publish this here test . I need to learn how to do pictures for my future journal of long island life . Few people realize Queens and brooklyn are on Long Island but being they are part of NYC , i'm going to not include them in my expose of this fabulous place to live and anyway except for a few posh areas Queens and Brooklyn are nothing more then over crowded wasp nests . I will concetrate more on the white trash areas like where I live east to the hamptons and the north fork and west to the Gold Coast of Nassau county where some of the most impressive mansions in the country were built years and years ago . The gold coast is where F Scott Fitzgerlds book The great Gatsby took place . I even know the very mansion the story was based on . I might do a bit of a story on the town of Amityville where I grew up from sixth grade till college and even include some pictures of the Amityville horror house for those of morbid mind set . I'd guess most of my journal will center on the eastern parts of the island , the miles and miles of ocean and bay front etc etc .. ok, lets see if this worked . Allan
